Currituck County agrees to accept stray dogs after Pasquotank County shelter shuttered by the state

The SPCA of Northeastern North Carolina has been ordered to relocate the animals in its shelter.

Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 2, the Currituck County Commissioners approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pasquotank County in which the county agreed to accept up to three stray dogs a week from Pasquotank County.

The agreement on the stray dogs, which would be housed at the Currituck County Animal Shelter, follows the state’s decision to shutter the Northeastern North Carolina SPCA Shelter in Elizabeth City.
