President Donald Trump said Monday the U.S. Military Academy at West Point made an “important move” by cutting a ceremony for actor Tom Hanks .

The West Point Association of Graduates pulled the plug on its ceremony set for Sept. 25 , awarding Hanks the 2025 Sylvanus Thayer Award. The association will still give the Forest Gump actor this award, though no specific reason has been provided for the ceremony’s cancellation.
