SHREVEPORT, La. -- The city of Shreveport last year was assessed $1.6 million in penalties and interest by the IRS for failing to file a required Affordable Care Act form in a timely manner, in addition to improperly paying two now-former police department employees.

That's according to the city's annual audit released Monday by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor's Office .

The city's independent auditor noted the findings in fiscal year 2024 and reported it to the LLA. Of the 12 findings, four were repeated from the previous year.
