GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Police are investigating shots fired early Monday morning near Abbott Park.

Around 2 a.m., officers responded to a report of a gunshots near W 17th and Cedar.

Police determined that two vehicles were damaged at that location and a home a block away was also struck by gunfire.

GIPD Division Chief Dean Elliot said the residents heard gunshots and went outside to look. He said they found two of their vehicles with bullet holes as well as smashed in windshields.

The victims of the cars told police that they saw a vehicle speed away, but police cannot confirm if that vehicle is responsible for the damage.

Around the same time, officers were called to another home a block away near W 16th and Cedar.
