Flames shot through the roof of a home on Crowland Avenue Monday morning in Welland, as thick smoke billowed from its eaves, soffits and vents.
Welland Fire and Emergency Services arrived at 114 Crowland Ave. , between Cady and Welland streets, just after 9 a.m. for reports of a structure fire, with residents possibly trapped inside.
Niagara Emergency Medical Services and Niagara Regional Police also responded to the fire, with police closing Crowland between Cady and Cozy streets.
One person was in the care of paramedics, but the person’s condition was unknown.
