ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Here are my five takes from the Buffalo Bills’ 41-40 season-opening victory against the Baltimore Ravens Sunday night at Highmark Stadium:
1. Some rules are meant to be broken, like the one that says don’t overreact to the outcome of the first game of the season. This one merits all kinds of overreaction.
I’m beginning my 47th season of covering the NFL, and I’ve never witnessed anything like what happened Sunday night. It was so much more than a dramatic comeback by the Bills or an epic collapse by the Ravens. It was, without exaggeration, magical.
The scoreboard did not accurately indicate just how far behind the Bills were when it said the Ravens had a 15-point lead with 11:42 remaining. Many from the sold-out crowd of 70,745 began heading for the exits after wat
