TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Some Leon County parents are raising concerns after being told they won’t be allowed to chaperone an upcoming school field trip.
“I’m not comfortable with parents just completely being taken out of that equation,” said Kimberly Wilder, a parent at Kate Sullivan Elementary.
Wilder said during an open house for her two fourth-grade daughters, she heard unexpected news from a teacher about this year’s field trip to St. Augustine.
“I was really excited, and then she followed that by saying parents were not allowed to chaperone this year,” Wilder said. “We were all looking at each other like, what? That was the first we had heard of it.”
Leon County Schools Volunteer Coordinator Kelli Walker said field trip chaperone decisions are left to each school’s principal.
