MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Mission Fire Department responded to Veterans Memorial High School on Monday morning after people reported a gas odor on campus.

According to Mission FD, Veterans High School was evacuated as a precaution.

The Mission Fire Department arrived on scene, assessed the situation and evacuated the main building.

According to a news release from Mission FD, the students were taken to the gym, and those who are scheduled for lunch are being served as planned in the cafeteria.

School staff will rotate groups from the main building according to the lunch schedules, Mission FD stated in the release.

The fire department brought fans to help release the gas odor from the main building. The rest of the campus will be following regular schedules.
