AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine residents with a library card can enjoy free admission to participating state parks on Saturday, Sept. 20.

The Maine State Library and Maine State Parks are partnering on the initiative to celebrate September as National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Gov. Janet Mills has proclaimed it Maine Library Card Sign-Up Month as well.

Anyone who shows a Maine library card at a participating state park that day will receive free day-use admission from 9 a.m. until closing, officials said.

“This collaboration is a perfect way to highlight the value of libraries and the exceptional outdoor values of Maine’s State Parks,” Andy Cutko, director of the Bureau of Parks and Lands, said in a press release.
