Liberal MP Julian Leeser has made an unreserved apology to the Indian community in his electorate for comments made by his colleague Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, while the party descends into further infighting over the internal response to the senator’s remarks.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Tuesday joined a push for Price to say sorry, as did her Nationals’ colleague Bridget McKenzie.

“When you’re a leader and a community leader, as those of us that are in senior ministry positions in parliament are, if you’ve offended somebody and you didn’t mean to, the appropriate responsible thing to do is to apologise,” McKenzie said on 4BC.
