The Boston Red Sox still haven’t recalled Kristian Campbell to help a short-handed lineup, but he played a position that’s currently a sore spot for Boston.
Campbell has moved from second base to first base during his stint at Triple-A Worcester, and the rookie started at left field last month. The 23-year-old continued to shift spots, starting Sunday’s game at right field.
Beyond the Monster’s Andrew Parker noted that it marked the first time Campbell started at right field since a 2023 game at the Florida Complex League.
Campbell would probably be back in the big leagues right now if the Red Sox trusted his glove at second base. Injuries to outfielders Roman Anthony and Wilyer Abreu have prompted Ceddanne Rafaela to focus on center field again.
