Some Chatham streets will be filled with noise on Friday, Sept. 19 for the Take Back the Night march and rally being organized by the Chatham-Kent Sexual Assault Crisis Centre (CKSACC).

The event returned last year after a long absence, attracting about 200 participants and organizers are hoping for an even larger crowd this year.

Violence against women is “still alive and well, living in Chatham-Kent,” CKSACC executive director Linda Soulliere said. The theme of this year’s march is shatter the silence.

The event aims to “bring attention to the issues and work toward making it a safer community, free from sexual assault, abuse, harassment and domestic violence,” she said.
