RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The North Carolina Education Lottery said a Rutherford County man won a $100,000 prize from a lottery ticket.

Alton Greene from Spindale bought a $3 Powerball ticket from Speedy Mart on Bethany Church Road in Forest City on Saturday. He won $50,000, which doubled to $100,000 when the 2X multiplier hit because he bought a Power Play ticket, lottery officials said.

Officials report Greene took home $71,746 after taxes. He had one of three Powerball tickets in North Carolina that won $100,000 in Saturday’s drawing.
