WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Shannon Taylor, the Henrico County Commonwealth's Attorney who unsuccessfully ran for attorney general, has announced she's running for Congress.
She will attempt to unseat Rep. Rob Wittman, a Republican who represents Virginia's 1st Congressional District, who has held the seat since 2007.
Taylor most recently ran against Jay Jones for attorney general of Virginia, but lost in the Democratic primary by a margin of 51% to 49%.
Taylor is a prosecutor who has spent the last 13 years as the Henrico Commonwealth's Attorney, being reelected three times, and has spent nearly 30 years as a prosecutor.
Her campaign website says three of her top priorities are to lower costs and grow the economy, keep communities safe, and fight for "quality, affordable healthcare."
