The Mets have placed catcher Luis Torrens on the injured list, retroactive to Sunday, September 7, with a right forearm contusion. In a corresponding move, the team called Hayden Senger back up from Triple-A.

Torrens was injured during Saturday’s loss to the Reds while blocking a ball. In his own words, he expects this to be a minimum IL stint, which means he should be back midway through the team’s upcoming homestand. The club wanted to avoid having two banged up catchers on the roster with Francisco Alvarez fresh off the IL and still dealing with a broken pinky and a separate thumb injury, which was the reason for his stint on the IL.
