PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A weekend street racing enforcement mission conducted by Portland police resulted in 8 arrests and 11 vehicles being towed.

The mission, which took place Sept. 6-7, focused on "curbing dangerous and illegal driving behavior on city streets," according to police.

"Officers demonstrated exceptional agility, responding in real-time to shifting activity and preventing street racers from establishing any sustained presence at numerous key intersections," police said.

During the Sept. 7 mission, police say they were able to locate a suspect vehicle connected to several armed robberies, which led to the arrest of 49-year-old Justin P. Christiansen.
