BUFFALO, N.Y. — Thousands of drivers in Buffalo are being caught by school bus stop arm cameras.

Since enforcement began last October through BusPatrol, City of Buffalo officials say more than 42,000 tickets have been mailed out, though nearly 12,000 violations were declined.

Buffalo Traffic Violations Agency executive director Octavio Villegas says the priority is safety, not money. When asked about the city's share of the fines and whether that money has been used, here's what Villegas said: "That money I believe goes to the city's general fund. That is something I would defer to the mayors office that they could answer what the fund goes towards.
