DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A Durham man facing a list of serious charges, including a forced sex offense and multiple assaults, made his first appearance in court on Monday.
According to warrants, 61-year-old Theodore Walden is accused of hitting a woman with a leather belt which caused bruising on her buttocks, putting a plastic bag over her head and threatening to kill her.
"That's pretty messed up," an assistant district attorney said in court.
A Durham County judge raised Walden's secured bond to $2.2 million. Warrants show Walden is also accused of trying to strangle the woman by "wrapping a towel around her neck and using it to apply pressure to cut off her air supply"
Warrants also said he forced her to have sex with him.
"If she's going to give me that $2 million bond, there ain't
