A Middlesbrough pub is leading the way in the fight to save lives from drugs overdose. Staff and managers at The Longlands Club have all been trained on the use of the medication, Naloxone, a life-saving treatment which can reverse the effects of opioid overdose.

The Marton Road establishment has trained staff to administer the drug and will be keeping it on the premises if such a scenario takes place. F igures revealed in 2022 showed that Middlesbrough and Hartlepool had the highest drug misuse death rates in the country - around four times the national average.
