QUAD CITIES, Ill./Iowa (KWQC) - A man wanted for escaping the Davenport Residential Correctional facility has been arrested.

Michael Preston, 50, was in the facility on charges of theft, domestic assault with injury and burglary.

On Aug. 25, Preston checked out of the Davenport Work Release Center to go to Community Health Care, according to court documents.

Officials said he was supposed to be back by 1:30 p.m., but he called at 1:40 p.m. to tell staff he was on his way back.

Around 3:30 p.m., officials said Preston called and told staff he was 15 minutes away, but he was already placed on escape status.

Preston was arrested and taken to the Scott County Jail on Sept. 6 and is being held on $1,000 bond.

He is charged with voluntary absence from custody and has a preliminary hearing
