NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The 8,402 students enrolled at Northwestern State University for Fall 2025 include the largest freshman class in four years, a record number of transfer students, and full campus housing.

The incoming freshman class boasts an average ACT score of 21.6, while the state average is 18.8. The score is also a point higher than last year.

School officials attribute the increased ACT scores and the increase in transfer students to NSU becoming an increasingly attractive destination.

Officials are also proud of the campus's full occupancy, feeling that the school has earned a reputation for an energetic, student-centered campus life.
