Greenville County residents needing to make child support payments will have updated options beginning Oct. 1, Greenville County Clerk of Court Jay Gresham announced Sept. 3.

To align with statewide procedures and improve service, all standard child support payments must be made through the South Carolina State Disbursement Unit starting Oct. 1. This transition ensures support payments are processed efficiently and delivered more quickly to the children and custodial parents who rely on them, according to Gresham’s office.

Importantly, court-ordered “purge payments,” which are used to satisfy contempt findings or non-compliance orders, must be paid locally at the Greenville County Family Court Clerk’s Office, when specifically ordered by a Family Court judge.
