ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A woman found dead near the Chattahoochee River in the 1980s has been identified, according to the Cobb County Police Department.
The woman was identified as Veronica Jane Miller. Police said she was about 20 years old when she died.
Miller was found dead in May 1984 in a wooded area near the river in southwest Cobb County. Her death is now being investigated as a homicide.
Police said at the time of her death, foul play could not be ruled out and her cause of death could not be determined. It was, however, determined she had died three months before her remains were found.
In 2011, an additional DNA profile was done, but there were no matches. A 3D model of what Miller may have looked like at the time was also done.
