Several Sept. 11 memorial events are scheduled in the metro Denver region Thursday to remember lives lost and honor heroes from one of the darkest days in U.S. history on its 24th anniversary.
On Sept. 11, 2001, 2,976 people were killed and thousands more injured when terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners in a coordinated attack. Two of the planes hit the two World Trade Center towers in New York City, while one plane struck the Pentagon in Virginia and another crashed in rural Pennsylvania.
‘Carry The Load’
As the largest national Veteran cemetery in Colorado, Fort Logan National Cemetery plans to honor fallen service members during a three hour event.
Volunteers from a national nonprofit called “Carry The Load,” a veteran and first responder service organization, will run the
