SCHENECTADY — The first African American woman to pilot a spacecraft is set to appear at a Union College forum on Friday, with astronaut Sian Proctor to take part in the college’s annual Feigenbaum Forum on Innovation and Creativity.

Proctor, a scientist and geology professor at South Mountain Community College, piloted the Inspiration4 spacecraft in September, 2021 on the first all-civilian orbital mission to space.
