Thailand’s Supreme Court is expected to rule on a case against former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, which alleges that he did not properly serve his prison sentence.
Thaksin has been under investigation over the handling of his return in 2023 to Thailand to face an eight-year prison term on charges related to corruption and abuse of power.
At the time, he was transferred almost immediately to a hospital and later granted clemency due to his age and health - without spending a single night in jail. The court's ruling could now send him back to prison.
His daughter, recently dismissed from the prime minister role, Paetongtarn Shinawatra arrived with her father on Tuesday.
