BOZEMAN — Entering week three several Big Sky Conference football teams have more or less played to expectations — Portland State and Weber State looking uncompetitive against tough teams; Montana pulling away from a Division II opponent ; Montana State losing Oregon and trading punches with South Dakota State .

But some Big Sky teams have started the season in confusing ways, namely Idaho, Idaho State and UC Davis.

Idaho began the season with a short trip over the state border and nearly returned with a win over FBS Washington State. The Vandals scored 10 straight points in the fourth quarter to tie it up but lost on a last-second field goal.
