A 63-year-old woman was flown to a hospital with serious injuries Monday morning after she was struck by a car while biking on Route 127 in Gloucester, according to police.

Gloucester police and firefighters responded to the crash near 891 Washington St. around 9:25 a.m., police said in a press release. They soon found the bicyclist, who had been seriously injured.

She was flown to an area hospital via medical helicopter, police said. The driver involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Gloucester police are still investigating what caused the crash. No further information has been released.
