COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio lawmakers are getting ready to redraw the state's U.S. Congressional district maps. The Ohio General Assembly's first deadline to adopt a plan is the end of this month.

Redistricting is supposed to be done every 10 years after the U.S. Census, but Ohio hit a political roadblock. So, legislators must do it again now.

"It is very difficult to get maps that both the Republican majority in the General Assembly and the Democratic minority in the General Assembly can agree to," Bowling Green State University Political Science Professor Dr. Nicole Kalaf-Hughes said.

In 2022, the congressional district maps did not get super-majority support of the entire General Assembly, including 50% of Democrats. That means the current map is only good for four years.
