CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - An assistant football coach at Northwest High School was asked to leave Friday night’s game during halftime. The school says it’s over ‘proselytizing’ concerns, while some students and parents argue he was doing nothing wrong.

Northwest senior Alyssa Scholma was at the game on Friday night and says she saw a few players going up to Coach Trey Campbell.

“He was just reading to himself, and then people tried to come up to him, and he’s never gonna deny spreading the word of God. He’s never gonna do that. So he did start to share that with them,” Scholma said, “During halftime, he was called over by our principals and they told him that if he did not put his Bible down, then he had to leave.”
