The man who previously set fire to three Masonic Halls in one day, including two on the North Shore, has been sentenced to 18 months’ probation after a separate incident where he drove recklessly and then tried to disarm a police officer during his arrest.

Benjamin Orion Carlson Kohlman was sentenced in North Vancouver provincial court on Aug. 4 after pleading guilty last October to dangerous driving, fleeing from police, as well as assaulting and attempting to disarm a peace officer.

Kohlman spent 168 days in custody after being arrested last August and released in February on bail. In addition to probation, he was also sentenced to a one-year driving prohibition and a 10-year weapons ban.
