JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Across the nation, communities are observing the second annual 988 Day, highlighting the nationwide mental health and suicide prevention lifeline .

Since its launch just two years ago, the three-digit number has connected millions of people in crisis with immediate support.

In Northeast Florida, United Way plays a critical role in answering these calls, providing around-the-clock help to anyone struggling with thoughts of suicide, mental health challenges, or concern for a loved one.

Julia Guazzo of United Way of Northeast Florida explains that crisis specialists undergo intensive training, including the national 988 curriculum and QPR certification, to ensure they are fully prepared for each caller’s unique needs.
