ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Town of Elmira residents packed the West Elmira Fire Department at Monday's planning board meeting. Several people even had to wait outside as some voiced concerns over multiple agenda items.

To start, a final site plan review for Bhakti Marga America , where renovations are currently underway at the temple on West Church Street.

Several people came to speak out against the temple project. As a result, the board is requiring applicants to perform a full environmental impact assessment before the project can move forward. No timeline has been set.
