There aren’t enough good, employable, young people in West Virginia. This is hurting our economy, according to an Aug. 25 article in The State Journal. The article ponders this conundrum. The author and quoted sources offer suggestions as to why this problem exists. These reasons include AI taking jobs, lack of affordable housing and population decrease.

If I wrote that article, I would have said, “One reason our young people are fleeing is because our state government systematically passes legislation that drives young people out and keeps other people from wanting to move here.”

But that is why I don’t write for The State Journal.

“But as West Virginia’s population decreases ..., it becomes increasingly difficult to find employees for the industries of the future,” states the article.
