IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Star wrestler Felicity Taylor almost wasn’t one.
Long before she won two national championships - one at McKendree, another at Iowa - she was looking for a winter sport at South Winneshiek High School.
“I made a comment to one of my classmates that I was going to try it, and it was just a joke. I wasn’t going to actually do it,” said Taylor. “But he was like ‘you’ll never actually make it through practice.’ When I heard that he thought I couldn’t do it, then I really wanted to try it.”
What followed was a decorated college career.
But after two years at Iowa, Taylor was burned out.
“I wasn’t loving the sport. I didn’t really want to be there” she said. “It was a tough year.”
