SANDY — A motorcyclist is dead after a crash between a motorcycle and a car Monday night in Sandy, police said.

The crash occurred about 7 p.m. near 8600 S. 700 East.

Sandy Police Sgt. Greg Moffitt said the 40-year-old man who was driving the motorcycle died at the scene.

Moffitt added that the cause of the accident is currently unknown and that the 8600 S. 700 East intersection is shut down and will be for a period of time while the investigation plays out.
