SAN DIEGO -- Fernando Tatis Jr. 's walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th inning sent the Padres to a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Reds on Monday night at Petco Park.
Tatis’ fourth career walk-off RBI -- his second this year -- kept the Padres within striking distance of the Dodgers in the National League West . San Diego gained ground on both the Cubs and Mets in the Wild Card race , after both lost on Monday night.
Padres starter Yu Darvish was mostly sharp, allowing three runs over 5 2/3 innings on what was a season-high 91 pitches. (Darvish has mostly been limited this season, after he missed three months with right-elbow inflammation.) Reds leadoff man TJ Friedl took Darvish deep to start the night, but the veteran right-hander mostly settled in from there.
Still, the Padres t
