CASPER — In 1982, Casper’s shopping scene sprung to life with the opening of the Eastridge Mall. Fast forward to 2025, and its management team is struggling to find tenants as the culture around malls nationally continues to shift.

However, Eastridge Mall General Manager Tammy Ito said she thinks people are going to come back around, and she is doing everything she can to drive more business in and around the more than 600,000-square-foot building.

History

The mall planning really kicked off in September 1980 after a monthslong court battle between the developer and the property owner.

Original land owner Marshall Smith claimed the purchase option deadline had passed. Newspaper articles from the Star-Tribune at the time indicate that the Price Development Company won a summary judgment
