SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. — Mootilda is living her best life roaming free at an animal sanctuary in San Tan Valley.

That name was given to the four-year-old cow by her new caretakers at Aimee's Farm Animal Sanctuary, who took Mootilda in last month. The founder and owner, Aimee Takaha, said all their animals have suffered traumatic events in their life.

Like another cow that was left for dead in a ditch, a donkey that had to go through reconstruction surgery after getting shot in the face, and a pig that was found at a drug lab.

For Mootilda, this new life is one she was never meant to have. Takaha said she was born and raised to die at a slaughterhouse in San Tan Valley, until Mootilda made her escape.
