A large police operation is currently underway at the scene of Dezi Freeman's alleged cop shooting as dozens of heavily armed police descend on Porepunkah, in rural Victoria.

The 56-year-old is wanted over the shooting deaths of Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart, who were gunned down at the rural property on 26 August.

It is understood about a dozen police units hastily travelled down Buckland Valley Road, near Porepunkah about midday on Tuesday.

Some of the police units stopped at a property about five minutes from where Freeman allegedly shot and killed two to Victoria Police officers two weeks ago.
