BEIJING (Reuters) -Dior’s Shanghai branch has transferred customers’ personal data to its headquarters in France illegally, leading to a data leak in May, China’s public security authority said on Tuesday.

The company did not conduct a required security assessment before transferring data overseas, and it did not notify users or encrypt the data according to requirements, the authority said in a statement.

Local public security authority carried out an administrative penalty against the firm, the statement said.
