Over four in ten UK adults are unaware of their blood pressure reading, despite the condition being the leading preventable cause of death.
Blood Pressure UK, a charity organisation, revealed this alarming statistic during Know Your Numbers! Week, which took place from 8 to 14 September.
The research showed that one-third of individuals do not regularly monitor their blood pressure, with only 11% aware that those over 40 should check it at least annually.
Surprisingly, half of the 2,000 participants surveyed were under the misconception that high blood pressure would present obvious symptoms.
