Richard Dornan, motoring expert at AChoice, said drivers in this situation should check if they can get a Statutory Off Road Notification.

To benefit from this, vehicles should be completely unused for extended periods - such as if the owner is away studying at university, travelling abroad or temporarily unable to drive.
