Competing demonstrations in Plymouth city centre on Sunday evening concluded without incident, according to police.

The announcement from the self-described group Flag Force Plymouth - who characterise themselves as "celebrating Plymouth's heritage and bringing our community together through the proud display of our national flags" - pledged to gather at the Poundland shop on Armada Way at 5pm on September 7, intending to wave the Union and St George flags.
