Our politicians don’t get it: Make public education a priority.

The Founders insisted public education is the cornerstone of our democracy and the incubator of learning, thought and critical thinking. Our children need the tools to become contributing residents to this state and nation.

The domain of public education is to remain free from selected ideology and political messaging. It is to be an open forum — not a place for politicians to selectively determine what children are to learn in line with their beliefs alone. The ability to form independent opinions and understand history is essential to a free society.
