Severn Trent has issued a statement on its plans to upgrade the sewer network in one of Nuneaton's most flood-hit areas. It has been claimed that the Weddington area of town cannot cope with all of the new houses that have and continue to be built in the area. This has left flooding issues and also well documented sewage dumping into the River Anker.

Severn Trent previously said it would spend £5m on flood improvements across Nuneaton, including at Weddington. This includes adding extra capacity at the decades-old Weddington station to prevent as many storm overflow spillages.

Early investigation works are taking place in the Sandon Park and Church Lane areas throughout this week and into next week. Locals who use the park could be greeted by disruption but it has been stressed that
