CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Cranston’s Democratic party has announced their nominee to fill the council’s open seat.
The party has chosen Emilia Vaziri.
According to party officials, Vaziri is a life-long Cranston resident who makes a living as a marketing specialist for a large regional corporation.
The seat opened after Council President Jessica Marino and Council Attorney Stephen Angell stepped down amid rumors of a relationship .
Marino’s resignation left the council split with four Democrats and four Republicans.
