CHICAGO — Police are searching for answers on Tuesday morning after a man was found beaten to death at a bus shelter on the city's Far South Side.

According to police, the deadly attack unfolded around 9 p.m. at a CTA bus shelter located in the 9500 block of South Halsted Street, in Washington Heights.

Officers were first called to the scene following a report of a man who had been found in the area with apparent trauma to his head.

Officers arrived on the scene and located the victim, a 70-year-old man.

Police say they believe the man was pushed to the ground and beaten by an unknown male offender who fled the scene shortly after.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
