CHICAGO (WGN) - A man was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in the city's South Shore neighborhood.

Chicago police said the incident happened just after 1 p.m. in the 2500 block of East 79th Street.

A 44-year-old man was near the sidewalk when three unknown male suspects approached him. At least one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and fired shots, hitting the man multiple times, according to investigators.

Police said the man was taken to University of Chicago Hospital where he died.

No arrests have been made and area detectives are investigating.
