Brazilian exhibitors and distributors who will attend motion picture theater industry convention Expocine over Sept. 30 – Oct. 3 said they expect Brazilian films to expand their share of the country’s B.O. in the coming years.

The “window of opportunity” for local films, said exhibitors and distributors, is the result of a combination of factors: changes in the rules of federal incentives and the temporarily weaker offer of U.S. films, as well as the increasingly higher quality of local productions. On top of that, upcoming streaming service regulation is expected to have a positive impact on the local production sector.

Brazilian film B.O. share rose from 3.3% in 2023 to 10.1% in 2024, and it was tracking at 10.6% through the 33 rd week of 2025, according to the National Cinema Age
